The countries that haven’t banned GMOs are dealing with country wide health issues, such as obesity and genetic disorders, One of which is America. The diet of an American contains a lot of processed foods that have artificial additives with the potential to affect our health, an example of one would be asprotain commonly found in diet pops. If these man made chemicals that we add in our food and drinks affect our health in a negative way, who's to say that GMOs wouldn’t do the same. GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are a fairly new process and science compared to more experienced practices. In years to follow there could be limitless potential problems and health complications that appear in citizens' health because of GMOs. And that's not to mention the already existing diseases that could be mutated from GMOs. “Besides, as these foods are new inventions, not much is known about their long term effects on human beings.”-A quote from an article by the National Library of America. In addition to how common it is to spot GMO developed food in a grocery store, It adds to the tension of if GMOs are safe or not. One might argue that GMOs are an important improvement in medicine, due to the fact that doctors can sneak vaccines and medicine into GMO developed foods. However, whos to say that the customer wants that in their food, if not then it is a violation of Human rights and an invasion of privacy. One might then say that people can avoid GMO and buy the organic products but it’s not that easy. An expert called Gordon Bridger states that around 75 percent of products stored on shelves are GMOs. If one wants to avoid purchasing GMOs and instead go after the naturally grown produce they have to go to a specifically organic store and not everyone has that option.
