Out of 30 students surveyed, 17 have a dog. Based on these results, predict how many of the 300 students in the school have a dog.

Answer :

We know that 30 students have 17 dogs. If we want to know how many dogs will have 10 times more students (300) we can miltiply 17 times 10 as well to get the answer.
17*10=170 - its predicted value
so 17 out of 30 or 17/30
so we want to find the equivilent of 17/30 with the bottom number 300 so

we know that 1/2=4/8 because 1/2 times 4/4 ( or 1) =4/8 soo

we notice that 300 is 10 times of 30 so

17/30 times 10/10=170/300 so

170 student have a dog
