Longmen Grottoes, located in Luoyang, Henan Province, is a treasure house of stone carving art with the most statues and the largest scale in the world. It has been named "the highest peak of Chinese stone carving art" by UNESCO and ranks first among all the major grottoes in China. [57-59] It is now a world cultural Heritage, a national key cultural relic protection unit, and a national AAAAA tourist attraction.

Longmen was dug by Yu the Great in the flood control, and the legend of fish leaping Longmen also took place here.  It has been built for more than 1,400 years after more than 10 dynasties, making it one of the longest grottoes in the world. There are 2,345 existing cave niches, more than 110,000 statues, which were built with a large number of colors, most of which have faded.

The statues in Longmen Grottoes were mostly built by the royal nobility and are the only royal grottoes in the world.  In addition, it has experienced the opening of caves by foreigners such as Tianzhu, Silla, Tocharo, and Kangguo to create statues, and found European patterns and ancient Greek stone pillars, which can be called the most international grottoes in the world.

Longmen Grottoes made the grottoes art show the trend of Sinization, is a "milestone" of Chinese grottoes art, not only had an important impact on the excavation of other grottoes in China (such as the Temple of Heaven in Hong Kong), and even far east Asia, Korea, Japan and other countries, such as the Todaiji Temple in Nara, Japan, Korea Grottoes nunnery and so on are influenced by it.
